Jumping ants

In my book I give several examples of where jumping ants have sent me messages. These particular ants give quite a nasty bite causing swelling that takes several days to go down and leaves an itchy spot for a week or more. So a message from one of these little critters stops you in your tracks.

Recently I was working on a path near our house clearing out some old wire. I felt something on my leg and looked down and saw it was a jumping ant. In the past I would have gone into a panic and ran from the area never to return. But on this occasion I simply brushed the ant from my leg and examined the ground.

I saw that it was swarming with these little ants. However, I needed to remove this wire. So I just sent them love, tried to avoid them as best I could and kept working.

Amazingly - no bites! I wasn't bitten on this occasion.

There was actually a message for me in not being bitten. I'd been doing a lot of meditation focussing on loving kindness. I was also working on feeling this same feeling of love at all times of the day not just when I was meditating. I believe the Universe was pointing out to me that this feeling of love can impact on everyone and everything I encounter.

Rather than my usual response of fear, I responded on this occasion with love. The outcome was that I wasn't bitten, even though I continued to work amongst the ants.

For me, this demonstrated just how powerful love can be!

P.S. I used to struggle with even referring to love. My "Living Now" article explains some of this struggle and how I resolved it. You can find it at the link below.
